Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Pipe Puzzle 2.
General
Pipe Puzzle 2: Waterworks is the second entry in the Pipe Puzzle series. It is a sliding-tile puzzle for iOS: each level is an N×N grid where one cell is empty, the other cells hold tiles with pipe fragments. You slide tiles into the empty cell to align colored pipelines from entry ports to exit ports, then run the water to verify the route is sealed.
The original Pipe Puzzle Waterworks was a placement puzzle — you dragged pipe blocks onto an empty board and rotated them into a route. Pipe Puzzle 2 keeps the same "build a route, run the water" loop, but the mechanic is a 15-puzzle: tiles are already on the board, only the empty cell can absorb a neighbour, and harder levels also support multiple liquid colours and locked tiles that you must route around.
Yes. Pipe Puzzle 2 is free to download and play, supported by interstitial ads that appear after a level ends. If you prefer no ads at all, the optional "Remove Ads" in-app purchase disables interstitials permanently for your Apple ID.
Gameplay is fully offline — levels are generated on-device and your progress is stored locally. An internet connection is only needed to load advertising after a level ends and to process the optional in-app purchase. Once you have purchased Remove Ads, the App runs offline indefinitely.
Pipe Puzzle 2 itself does not collect personally identifying information. Records, the resumable save snapshot, and your preferences are stored only on your device. The bundled Google AdMob SDK may use your device's advertising identifier to deliver more relevant ads if you grant tracking permission via Apple's standard prompt — see the Privacy Policy for full details.
Gameplay
Tap a tile adjacent to the empty cell, or swipe it in the direction of the empty cell, to slide it. Keep sliding tiles until each coloured entry port on the edge of the board is connected through a sealed pipeline to its matching exit port. Then press Run to test the network.
A run fails in three cases: (1) a pipe end inside the route is open and leaks water; (2) an entry port has no path to an exit of the same colour, or vice versa; (3) two different liquid colours flow into the same connected component of pipes. The status strip at the top of the board tells you which failure happened.
Pipe Puzzle 2 supports up to three liquid colours — blue, red, and green. Each colour has its own entry port (or multiple entry ports) and exit port (or multiple exit ports) on the edge of the board. Blue water can only flow to blue exits, red only to red, green only to green. If you accidentally connect two different colours through a shared tile, the run fails.
From difficulty 7 onward, some path-critical tiles are pinned in place and cannot be slid. They are marked with a lock icon. You have to plan the route around them.
Each difficulty level keeps the best local completion time. If you use a hint during a run, that run is not eligible for a record — the timer shows "No rec" until you start a fresh layout.
Hint highlights tiles whose home (solution) position is on the correct route. It is useful for learning or debugging a stuck position, but it disqualifies the current run from the records.
Yes. The Undo button rolls back the last slide. You can undo up to 120 steps per attempt.
Settings
Music volume, sound-effects volume, haptic feedback toggle, visual theme (light or dark), high-contrast mode, restore purchases, reset records, and re-open the privacy / tracking choice dialog.
Pipe Puzzle 2 runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, in both portrait and landscape.
Yes. When you tap "Main Menu" from the pause overlay during a run, the current layout is saved. The Continue button on the main menu picks up exactly where you left off, including the timer.
Data & Ads
Open Settings and use Reset Records. This removes local best times from the device. Saved-in-progress games can be cleared by starting a "New Game" from the main menu instead of "Continue".
The free version shows a short interstitial ad after a level ends, served by Google AdMob. To remove ads permanently for your Apple ID, tap the "Remove Ads" purchase in Settings. If you have already purchased Remove Ads on another device, tap "Restore Purchases" to reactivate it.
iOS asks once whether the App may use your device's advertising identifier. You can change this any time at iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you live in a region where the GDPR consent dialog is shown, you can also re-open it from Pipe Puzzle 2's in-app Settings.
